 Dear Concord High School Band Students, Parents, and Band Boosters;

“Band, Ten-hut!”

Now that I have your “attention”, I would like to formally
introduce myself. I am Doug Morin, your new Director of Bands
at Concord High School. I live in Harrisburg with my wife,
Renee who is a grown-up band geek just like me. I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead the band program at Concord High School and it was a very pleasant surprise to see an announcement welcoming my arrival already on your website!

For the past five years I have been the band director at EastRowan High School in Salisbury, NC. During that time, the number of band participants nearly doubled, both in concert bands and marching band. The marching band grew from a Class A band in 2003 to a Class AAAA in 2007 and received seven Superior ratings in 2007. In addition, I started a Jazz Band that received Superior ratings at the UNCC Jazz Festival in 2006 & 2007, and established a Winterguard that won its class at the CIPA Championships after only three years in existence. As you get to know me, you will see that I am an educator, a musician,and a competitor…in that order.

Like music, life is full of beginnings and endings. Today marks the end of a tumultuous
summer. However, it can also be the beginning of a new chapter for the Concord High School
Band Program. To achieve success, all of us must work together, put the past aside, and plan a brighter future for the program.

Adapting to change is never easy, and adjusting to the personality and methods of a new directoris a gradual, often lengthy process. I ask for your support, your cooperation, your patience, and your flexibility while I transition into my new role. In return, you will have my full dedication and commitment to crafting a band program at Concord High School in which all of you can be immensely proud.

Musically Yours,

Mr. Doug Morin
