Rehearsals are not the place to teach the parts, but rather the place to out the parts together. -
The rehearsal is a place to do the things together that you can’t do alone. (You can learn your part alone.) -
You don’t come to rehearsal to learn your part, but rather to learn everybody else’s part. Concord Marching Band Season 2006 An air of excitement and nervous anticipation exists on all fronts during this time of the year -- for our new freshmen, seasoned upperclassmen, student leaders, and yes – even the director and staff. The definition of “summer vacation” dramatically changes for those who are new to the Concord Marching Band. | Charlie Parker (1920-1955) "Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art."

 | William Shakespeare (1564-1616) The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not mov'd with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night, And his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted. Mark the music. -The Merchant of Venice (V, i, 83-88) |
